SCA® Vitality sperm analysis for animals

SCA® Vitality is a module that automatically provides the percentage of live and dead spermatozoa in an animal semen sample.

This analysis module is also
available for Human and Toxicology.

Sperm Vitality is estimated by assessing the membrane integrity of the cells, and is fundamental for samples having less than 40% progressive motile spermatozoa. The percentage of the viable cells normally exceeds that of motile cells.

Vitality assessment can be performed with FluoVit kit (under fluorescence).

Spermatozoa are recognized and classified automatically. The analysis under fluorescence allows the differentiation between alive sperm (in blue), and the dead sperm (in red).

Specifications

The assessment is under fluorescence microscopy at 20x: The specimen is illuminated with light of a specific wavelength, which is absorbed by the fluorochromes, causing them to emit light of longer wavelengths, i.e., of a different color than the absorbed light .

Vitality of spermatozoa is evaluated indirectly though the integrity of the cellular membrane using vital fluorescence staining FluoVit.

Possibility to add or eliminate spermatozoa and/or captures fields

Calculation of basic parametres: Number and percentage of live and dead spermatozoa.

Visualization of the analysis mask superimposed to the original image.

Image capture takes 1 second per field
