During two days (July 23th – 24th, 2014) I went to the University Hospital of Basel for an installation and training of a complete SCA system. This is the second system they install, one near the other.
Andrology laboratory with the two SCA systems
The first system was installed in 2011 and it uses a Leica microscope, with motorized stage to perform automatically the morphology analysis. This system has also the motility and concentration, the dna fragmentation and vitality modules.
First SCA system installed in 2011
They have to do too much analysis each day and with one system is not enough, that’s why they decided to buy a second system.
In this case we installed a complete SCA system with the following components:
- Nikon Ci microscope with 10x and 100x objectives.
- Motorized stage Optiscan II from Prior.
- Tokai hit warm stage with 4 slides holder.
- A Basler Ace camera
- HP computer with motility, concentration and morphology modules.
The new system installed and running
In this case they also wanted to connect the two SCA systems database. In this way is easy to use one system to perform motility and concentration analysis and the other for morphology. Or use both with different morphology samples. And at the same time, the SCA database is connected to their LIS system. All the patients and new samples introduced into their hospital database, automatically appears in SCA sample management window of both computers and all the results once the analysis if finished, are automatically transferred to their hospital database.
I hope you use them more and more.
